Lier 2018: Nerves lost and placement won

Lier CDI3 * 2017 had been the first international competitionfor Diavolessa and Tatiana. Lier CDI4 * 2018 should now show what has improved during the one year. The two came a little above the 2017 results. How did that happen?

Lier 02 webThis time, there has been a placement in Lier. Dia and Tatiana are happy about that

The sourroundings in Lier Diavolessa did not like at all. The preparation took place in a tent. On the first day of the test, on Friday, a strong wind was blowing and the canvas hit the rafters hard. Advertising on the walls and obstacle material also unsettled the mare. After all, you could ride in this hall. That was not possible in 2017. An advance.

The preparation for the Grand Prix was not a good start. Diavolessa reacted nervously in the competition hall, increasing her excitement. Although she did not jump to the side, but she did not get loose, stopped in the movement and reacted in shock.

The hope that she is better in the arena, unfortunately, did not come true. Although there were no beating tarpaulins, but a striking lighting. The hall was equipped with colored spotlights that displayed patterns on the sand of the arena. The irritated slide clearly. She stared hard at the floor, pulling herself together when she saw something, or even skipping over shadows. It goes without saying that no appealing presentation could be made. Transitions were sometimes halting. Accordingly, the grades fell: 66.652 percent and thus rank 13.

Saturday was again used for intensive training in the tent and in the arena. On Sunday succeeded also a much better performance. The test took place in the afternoon in daylight, so that the artificial light was not on the ground. It was outshined by the sun. This removed a source of uncertainty that strengthened Dia. She showed herself more relaxed and was able to play her strengths in some areas. All judges gave an eight for the strong step. At 7.5, individual judges rated the flying changes, the strong trot, the traversals in the assembled gallop, the piaffe and the piaffe - passage transitions. But there were also carvers: the left pirouette failed, as well as the traversals in the passage. The arrangement of the freestyle, the choreography and the music pleased the judges very well. The artistic grade was 73.6 percent (from 70 to 78 percent). Even in the technical note, the judges were not unanimous. It ranged from 64.750 percent to 71.750 percent, on average 68.850 percent. The total was 71.225 percentage points, which meant 6th place.

The competition in Lier was optimistic for the future. The great uncertainty of Friday could be worked up on sunday by a viewable presentation. There is still a lot to do.
