Signal Iduna Cup in Dortmund

After a long break, Tatiana Kosterina started again with Diavolessa vA at a major international tournament in the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special. The venue for the event was the Signal Iduna Cup in Dortmund from 7 to 10 March 2019. The starting field was staffed at a high level. Three of the four riders from the German national team in Tryon alone had saddled a horse for Dortmund.

Dortmund1906Concentrated preparation for the Grand Prix

In addition to Dorothee Schneider and Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, Isabell Werth competed with two horses, namely Don Johnson and Emilio. They were joined by Swedish national team Therese Nilshagen and new German shooting star of dressage scene Ingrid Klimke with Franziskus.

For Tatiana, it was mostly about whether the work paid off during the winter break. Dia should be able to present herself more calmly and loosely in the arena, be easily guided by the help, be able to react calmly to the hall equipment. In the Grand Prix, a convincing performance with a Diavolessa in good humour also succeeded. Tatiana enthusiastically commented: "She's been wonderfully focused on me. I came out riding well. That was really fun. " The judges saw the pair at 69 percent, putting it 11th place.

Dortmund1907In the Grand Prix an 11th place finish, in the Grand Prix Special a seventh place. A successful weekend for the couple.

On Saturday, there was only light training work in the competition hall in the morning. The Grand Prix Special was scheduled late in the morning on Sunday. Overall, this show was also well convincing. The pair made no mistakes, even if a judge questioned the number of flying changes. There were 15, though. In that exam, Dia may not have been as relaxed as it was on Friday, but was able to develop many of her strengths well. The extended walk convinced, highlights were in the extended trot, in the flying changes. Also in that ride, the majority of judges gave up by 70 percent, with only one coming to a good 64. As a result, the pair was in seventh place. Nothing more was possible in this starting field at that point.

In the end, Tatiana was well pleased with her mare. The performance curve points upwards. There is a clear training schedule for the next few weeks. You can be excited about the next big tournament.

One exam, three judgments. Especially to the extended walk, there are often cute judgments. Dia has an outstanding good walk, probably one of the best in the international dressage world. Judges keep finding themselves hard to give suitably high marks, especially when they see the walk the first time in an exam.(The german comment in the last line is: very good overtrack)
