Ferdi Eilberg trains Tatiana in Bielefeld

The new coach of the Russian national team Ferdi Eilberg trains Tatiana Kosterina and Diavolessa in Bielefeld. Eilberg was appointed coach in december for the Russian national team. Similarly, a team of nine pairs had been named in the narrower circle of the national team with the prospect of participating in the Tokyo Olympics. Tatiana and Diavolessa are of course part of the main cast. After Ferdi Eilberg had trained the Russian team in Moscow, he came to Bielefeld for an individual training.

In the coming months, he will accompany the couple in their preparation for the Olympic Games as coach and support them at home in Bielefeld as well as at international tournaments. The next joint project is the CDI4* tournament in Lier (Belgium) at the end of February.


Born in Germany, Ferdinand Eilberg began his career as a rider and trainer with Dr. Reiner Klimke and Johann Hinneman. He moved to Britain in 1980. In 1991 he became a British citizen and participated very successfully in dressage competitions. He was part of the British dressage team at the European Championships (1993,1995) and the World Equestrian Games (1994, 1998), won a silver medal and quickly became a dressage trainer. In this capacity, he accompanied the British team at three Olympic Games. He also coached the Irish national team, the British Para-Dressage team and the Under21 team. Today he lives and works on his Pink Green Farm in Beoley, Redditch (England), with his family. He is now a proud grandfather. The children Maria and Michael are themselves successful dressage riders. Maria has won six medals at European and World Championships, Michael has made it to the British national team.

Russia had already qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in June 2019 at an international tournament in Moscow. Afterwards Tatiana took part in the European Championships in Rotterdam for Russia and was able to put on an impressive show there as the second best Russian pair. Now all the attention is focused on Tokyo. Despite the restrictions following the doping allegations against Russian sports federations, a Russian team will compete in the dressage arena in Tokyo. No doping allegations have been made against Russian riders. In addition, Tatiana and Diavolessa are subject to regular checks in Western Europe. There have never been any complaints.
